What We Believe

Who Are We?

We are part of a denomination called the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Our members are a cross section of the community. We are people from various backgrounds drawn together for worship, fellowship, encouragement, instruction and service by our common faith in Jesus Christ.

Worship is familiar and comfortable to a wide range of differing religious backgrounds. Faith in Christ is renewed each Sunday through sharing in Communion at the Lord's Table.

The people you will meet in this exciting church are praying, giving, working, studying, sharing and loving together as a close knit, well-organized Christ motivated team.

Our desire is that you know the risen Christ who gives power for a happy, better, meaningful life.

What We Do

In a time shared moral values seem to waning, one of our priorities is strengthening programs for children, youth, young adults and families.

Study and fellowship groups offer opportunities to ask honest questions and discover ways to deal with lifes difficult issues. As we share together, we find love and acceptance. Supportive friendships are formed.

We also work to make a difference in our neighborhood and community. We are very active in WSCO (West Side Christian Outreach), The City Rescue Mission, Murray Hill Preservation Association, The Sherrif's Advisory Council, Clothes for Kids. etc. Along with other local Disciples churches, we provide ministry to the residents of the Florida Christian Apartments, and Florida Christian Health Center.

We also share ministry across the our nation and around the world.

What Do We Believe? Like most Christians, Disciples affirm:

  • Jesus Christ is the Son of the Living God, and offers saving grace to all.
  • All persons are God's children.
  • Open Communion. Celebrated weekly and open to all believers.
  • Diversity of Opinion Each person is free to determine individual belief guided by the Bible, the Holy Spirit, study and prayer.
  • Baptism by Immersion.
  • Importance of church unity.
  • Freedom of Belief. Disciples are called together around one essential of faith: belief in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
